I-16 Corridor Alliance Pools Resources to Attract Growth

Twelve counties linked by Interstate 16 believe there is strength in numbers.

The newly formed I-16 Corridor Alliance pools the resources from these 12 counties to attract the attention of the Georgia Ports Authority and those who have a hand in placing distribution, warehousing and transportation centers along the corridor, which stretches from Macon to Savannah.

Georgia's business climate ranked No. 2 in nation

Washington - In an annual comparison of each state's business climate, Georgia has come in at No. 2, moving up two notches from last year.

The rankings, released Thursday in Site Selection magazine, showed that the Southeast continues to dominate as the region most attractive to business leaders.

County breaks ground for new annex

Tax assessor, tax commissioner to get first of new spaces

County and city officials and a number of community leaders were on hand Tuesday to break ground for what will be the Laurens County Administrative Annex Complex. “This is a day we’ve been looking forward to for eight or nine years,” Commission Chairman Roscoe Brower said as he welcomed the crowd. “It’s finally here. It’s time for the work to begin.”

YKK AP breaks ground on $80 million expansion

Expansion slated to create 200 new jobs

Local and state officials and community leaders gathered with YKK AP officials and employees at a groundbreaking ceremony Friday to celebrate the $80 million expansion the corporation will invest in the community. It was announced recently that the leading manufacturer of architectural building products will expand its facility in Dublin, investing $80 million and creating approximately 200 jobs to double the operation’s capacity by 2010.

Work Begins on 441 Bypass

Dirt moving on $97 million project

Two milestones come during the course of every major roadway expansion, the state’s top transportation official noted Wednesday.

Now, the dirt is moving, trucks are rolling, and the U.S. Hwy 441 Bypass has one more milestone to go.

Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Harold Linnenkohl joined state and local leaders Wednesday in breaking ground on the much-anticipated project — one of the largest on tap for the state this year.
